Life Coaching

Life Coaching

Life coaching is a professional, collaborative relationship that helps people identify and achieve personal and professional goals by improving skills, setting objectives, and creating action plans. A life coach guides clients through structured conversations to build motivation, confidence, and clarity for personal growth, career transitions, relationship improvements, and other life changes.

What a life coach does:

  • Helps define goals: Facilitates introspection to help clients identify their true desires, dreams, and values.
  • Creates a plan: Works with clients to develop a clear, actionable roadmap for achieving those goals.
  • Builds skills and confidence: Assists in boosting self-esteem, overcoming limiting beliefs, and developing motivation and new habits.
  • Provides support and accountability: Offers support through active listening, feedback, and holding clients accountable to their action plans.
  • Focuses on the future: Is a forward-thinking process that focuses on personal and professional growth and positive change, rather than deep emotional healing of past issues.

Common areas of focus:

  • Career transitions and professional development
  • Work-life balance strategies
  • Confidence and self-esteem building
  • Goal setting and personal achievement
  • Relationship coaching and interpersonal skills
  • Personal growth and self-awareness
  • Stress management For when life feels off track - or you’re ready to choose a different path.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected or just know something needs to shift, therapeutic coaching offers a space to pause, reflect, and reset.

Andy Samuels

Andy Samuels—Psychotherapeutic Coach | Adult, Child & Family Specialist

I’m a psychotherapeutic coach with over two decades of experience supporting adults, young people and their families across the West Midlands. After completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching with Reach Coaching Plus (with distinction), I now help others unlock their true potential through deep, transformational coaching.

My approach is rooted in the Reach Coaching Plus model, which blends therapeutic insight with practical coaching tools. This allows me to work not only with surface-level concerns like stress, conflict, and goal-setting, but also with deeper emotional and psychological challenges that often go unaddressed. I believe coaching should offer lifelong strategies—not just temporary relief.

I specialise in helping adults , young people, and their families overcome emotional challenges, build resilience, and strengthen family relationships. I'm also a trained facilitator of the Freedom Programme (supporting women and children recovering from domestic abuse) and a certified Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC) practitioner.

I offer both face-to-face sessions in South Birmingham and online platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience:

My journey began in 2001 as a volunteer child counsellor with Childline, where I later became a counselling supervisor. I then went on to work as a school mentor (2003–2008), supporting children aged 5–18 and their families.

In 2008, I founded Aspire, a project focused on the emotional well-being of young people. Over the past 24 years, I’ve worked in hundreds of schools across the West Midlands, often acting as a positive male role model—particularly for young boys—with meaningful, lasting outcomes.

Since 2009, I have been fortunate to work closely with the King Edward VI Grammar Schools Foundation, providing weekly one-on-one sessions to pupils. These sessions address the challenges that impact their daily lives, helping to remove significant barriers to learning.

Aspire also developed Aspire Parenting, a bespoke program that helps parents and carers build confidence and strengthen family relationships.

Alongside my work with children and young people, I also have extensive experience supporting adults through a wide range of emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. Whether working with parents, carers, or individuals navigating personal transitions, I bring a compassionate and practical approach to help foster resilience and long-term growth.
