Integrated Myofascial Therapy (IMFT)
IMFT is a whole body, multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare. It incorporates an integration of tried and tested advanced soft tissue techniques. These techniques are drawn from a variety of fascial healthcare systems involving, amongst others, Cranial Sacral Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy. Myofascial comes from the Latin “myo” for muscle and “fascia” for band. The benefits of IMFT are a decrease in pain, increase in freedom of movement, strengthening of the immune system, improvement in nerve function and an increase in blood circulation.
IMFT can help: Myofascial Pain Syndrome, back pain, sciatica, tight and tender muscles, frozen shoulder, headaches, TMJ, Carpal Tunnel, Scoliosis, Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, chronic pain, scar tissue, restriction of movement.
Myofascial Release Therapy
Myofascial Release technique blends massage and gentle stretching to release restrictions in the fascia that surrounds the muscles, organs and all the systems throughout the body. Myofascial Release relieves pain and restricted movement caused by constricted fascia due to injury, poor posture or unconscious holding patterns in the body.
After discovering areas of tightness or restriction, the therapist will gently knead the tissue and gently stretch them to encourage them to soften, lengthen and re-align the fascia. Stretches may be held as long as two minutes or more until a release is felt. This process is repeated until the area is released completely. Some people immediately feel better, even free of pain, and are able to move more freely as soon as the session is over. Others may feel a healing soreness for a day or two, whilst the body gets used to the new freedom.
